Username finder for public profiles
A username finder checks one handle on many public sites at once and shows each profile it finds. UsernameLookup searches 300+ sites in parallel, streams results onto the screen as they arrive and groups them by social, video, dev, gaming, forums and marketplaces.
How the finder stays fast on hundreds of sites
Many sites are asked at the same time instead of one after another. A large catalog takes about as long as its slowest batch, not the sum of every site.
Each site gets at most 6 seconds. A slow site cannot hold the whole search hostage, it is marked unknown and the run moves on.
You do not wait for the last site. Found profiles appear on the page the moment they answer, with a counter showing how many sites are done.
Speed matters because a username finder is usually a first step, not the whole job. You want to know in a few seconds whether a handle is everywhere or almost nowhere, and then decide what to look at closely. Waiting minutes for a full report kills that flow.
Every row records how long the site took to respond. That small number is useful: a profile that answered in a few hundred milliseconds is a clean result, while a site that hit the time limit is worth a second look later.
Results sorted by category
A flat list of found sites is hard to scan once it passes twenty rows. The finder puts every site into one category, so the result reads like a table of contents. A handle with most hits under dev and forums tells a different story from one that lives on gaming sites.
Categories also work before the search. Limit the run to the groups you care about and the finder checks fewer sites, finishes sooner and gives you less to read.

What each category covers
The catalog uses an open, community maintained detection dataset, extended and checked by us. Adult and explicit sites are excluded. These are the main groups and a few examples from each.
| Category | Example sites | Typical reason to search it |
|---|---|---|
| social | Instagram, TikTok, X, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky | Personal brand, creators, customer facing handles |
| video | YouTube, Twitch, Vimeo, Kick | Channels, streams and creator pages |
| dev | GitHub, GitLab, npm, Docker Hub | Developer profiles, packages and organisations |
| gaming | Steam, Chess.com, Roblox, Lichess | Player names and community profiles |
| forums | Reddit, Hacker News, Quora | Long running discussion accounts |
| marketplaces | Etsy, eBay, Fiverr, Gumroad | Shops, sellers and freelancer listings |
Getting a cleaner result
-
Search the exact spelling
Dots, underscores and hyphens are part of the handle. Usernames from 2 to 50 characters are accepted, using letters, digits and those three symbols.
-
Drop the @ if you like
The finder accepts the handle with or without the leading @ and searches the same thing.
-
Recheck unknown sites later
A site that rate limited one run often answers normally an hour later. History keeps both runs.
-
Try close variations
If the handle seems thin, run the same name with an underscore or a number. Investigator accepts up to 100 names in one bulk run.
Where to go after a quick search
Need to know whether found profiles belong together? Find social media accounts by username adds a likely same person score. Comparing name ideas before a launch is easier with the social media username checker, and code focused searches go deeper with the GitHub username search.
The finder only requests public profile addresses and never reads private data. Anyone can ask for a profile to be excluded on the opt-out page. Plans start at $24 a month billed yearly with 300 lookups a month on Pro, see pricing.
Questions about the username finder
How fast is the username finder?
Sites are checked in parallel batches, and each site gets at most 6 seconds to answer. Results appear on screen as they arrive, so the fast sites are readable within seconds while the slower ones finish in the background.
Can I search only some categories?
Yes. Pick categories such as social, video, dev, gaming, forums or marketplaces before you search, and the finder checks only those sites. Fewer sites means a faster run and fewer results to read.
What happens with sites that do not answer in time?
They are marked unknown instead of found or free. You can open the profile address yourself with one click, or run the search again later when the site is responding normally.
Is there a free plan?
There is a one-time demo search for visitors that shows the first 8 found sites in full. Full results, every category and history come with the paid plans, starting at $24 a month billed yearly.
