Username opt out
Username opt out removes a handle from UsernameLookup searches. Enter the username and your email, confirm the 6-digit code we send, and the name is suppressed before every lookup, availability check, API call and monitoring scan from that moment on.
What happens after you confirm
We store hashes only
The username and your email are turned into one-way hashes. Nobody, including us, can read the original values back from the list.
Checked before every search
Each lookup, availability check, API request and monitoring scan compares the name against the list first. A suppressed name never reaches any site.
Shown as not searchable
Anyone who searches the name sees that it is not searchable. We do not say who asked or when, and no profile links are shown.
UsernameLookup only checks whether public profile addresses answer for a name. It never collects real names, emails, phone numbers or addresses, and it does not build profiles of private people. Our security and privacy boundaries describe exactly what is checked and stored, and the acceptable use policy forbids stalking, harassment and doxxing.
Questions about the username opt out
What does a username opt out do?
It adds the username to our suppression list. Before every lookup, availability check, API call and monitoring scan we compare the name with that list, and a suppressed name is not searched at all. The result page shows it as not searchable.
Do I have to prove I own the account?
You confirm the request with a code sent to your email. We do not ask for identity documents, and we do not try to link the email to the username. Anyone who controls an email address can suppress a name, which keeps the process quick for people who want out.
What do you store about me?
A one-way hash of the username, a one-way hash of your email address and the time you confirmed. No plain username, no plain email, no profile data. The code itself is stored only as a hash and is deleted when you confirm.
Does this remove my profile from Instagram, TikTok or other platforms?
No. We do not host or copy profiles, we only check whether a public profile address answers. To remove or hide a profile, change its privacy settings or delete it on that platform.
Can I undo an opt out?
Write to [email protected] from the same email address and we remove the entry after checking that the email hash matches.
